I'm Adopted

It is popular thinking that we are all children of God. But is that what the Bible says? Scripture gives a clear definition of who God's children are:

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God." John 1:12-13

"You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus," Galatians 3:26

According to God's Word, those who believe in Jesus Christ and have accepted Him as their Savior have become children of God. Christians are adopted into God's family through His Son, Jesus Christ. There is even more explanation of this given in Galatians 4. Adoption is a wonderful thing, but I don't think there is any better adoption than that in Jesus Christ!

As Christians it often seems like we are misunderstood by the world. Being a follower of Jesus often results in negative reactions from others. But the Bible says that will happen to us, because it happened to Jesus too!

"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known." 1 John 3:1-2

The above chapter in 1 John goes on to tell us how we can recognize children of God:

"This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother." 1 John 3:10

Children of God are obedient to God's teaching and love their brother.

If you are interested in reading more scripture supporting the above, here a few:
Romans 9:8
John 8:42
John 8:44
Ephesians 1:5

So, have you been adopted yet?! We have all been given the opportunity to become children of God--the choice is ours. Don't wait another day to make that decision!
